Today was Team Bailey day at Scovill Zoo! The day started out very rainy, but by the time our event started, it was just perfect.....no rain, no heat, just an overcast day-no worries of sunburn!

We invited all the Mt. Zion students to come out with their families and celebrate their big accomplishment of helping Team Bailey! They helped raise lots of money for Team Bailey....they bought t-shirts, bracelets, sold their art work at the art fair, voted for their favorite baseball team (Cards vs. Cubs), ran in a 5k, and even sold Scentsy Candles! Some of the students even raised money on their own!

The families who came out today got to have a train and carousel ride and a sno-cone!

There were lots of Team Bailey shirts to be seen!!

Even Bailey's little cousin had his frog overalls on for the occasion!Thanks to everyone who was able to come out and enjoy the day! We appreciate everyone soooooo much!!!!!

This will be my last post probably until Spring. The home is done and Bailey and her family are beginning their new life together in a home that love built!

Words cannot express how thankful Connie and I are to everyone on our Team! Our team consists of people and businesses who have donated materials, labor, and money to make this happen. Families in the Mt. Zion district have raised money for Team Bailey by selling Scentsy Candles, running in a 5k, buying Team Bailey bracelets and t-shirts, being part of a poker run, chili suppers and auctions, buying their children's artwork, and voting on their favorite baseball team with coins. Businesses and people in our local and surrounding cities have contacted us wanting to know how they can help....and boy have they!!!

We are also so thankful for Arlene and Kelly at the Herald and Review, Scot England at WAND, and Crystal at the Mt. Zion Region News, for getting our story out so beautifully to the public.

Our hearts can't express how thankful we are for two special builders on our team, John Milligan and Jon Plain. These two men have hearts of gold! I was on the phone almost daily with them, from the beginning on plans to our many work days. I am so proud of all our builders and donators. If you ever need work done, please visit our 'We couldn't have done this without our helpers' side of the website. These businesses and people have big hearts and I would strongly recommend them for any job. They all helped to build a strong, safe, and sterile environment for Bailey to recover in!

After all those thank you's, we can't forget the biggest thanks of all....it goes to God! He is the one who made this journey happen for Connie and I. He led us to people and businesses to make this project happen. Connie and I had many many 'God moments' through this whole thing....things that obviously happened because He wanted them to happen. He is also the one who watched over Bailey every second of her long journey. He has a plan for her......we just have to wait and see what it is, but until then, she will begin her recovery in her new home!

Bailey comes home!!!!

Around 2:30p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011, Bailey came home!!!! There had been 2 other attempts to come home the previous months, but they didn't work out, but this one did!!! We had secretly asked family, friends, and members of Team Bailey to line the streets of route 121 and come down to the house to greet Bailey as she arrived.

This group of cousins are showing their support for Bailey!

Her grandpa had driven to Indianapolis that morning to pick them up and his 'instructions' were to drive them to the Decatur Airport where 2 limos would be waiting for Bailey and her family to ride in style to their new home. As they drove closer to the airport, Bailey realized they were not heading for home and she became a little upset with her 'Papa' because he was not heading straight home! But, after she saw what was waiting for her, she was excited!! Bailey's rest of her family and Gabbie were there awaiting her arrival. Bailey got to choose which limo she wanted to ride in -the black hummer or the white escalade.....well, after seeing the blinking colorful lights in the escalade and hearing the music, it was an easy choice for her!

As they drove down route 121, they were greeted by many people along the way with waves, yells, and signs of good well wishes! Then at the blinking lights of Dalton City, The Dora Township firetruck was waiting to bring the limos in with it's siren going! That let us know she was on her way!

I can't even begin to tell you the emotions that came through me as I saw the limos pull in. We have been working on this project for 1 year, and to see it come to this exciting end is amazing!!!

As soon as Bailey got out of the car, she hugged me and Connie-I'll never forget that! She was/is still on oxygen and is still in restrictions, so a face mask was a must!

We had a little ceremony on the front porch thanking all of the people and businesses that made this home happen for Bailey. We also told Bailey how proud we were of her and all she had been through and to remind her that so many people had been thinking of her and praying for her and her family.

Pastor Wray Offerman and Rev. Bill Pyatt, came to bless the family and their new home. Then it was time for Gabbie to give each one of Bailey's family their keys to their new home. Chandler had a Cardinals keychain, Derrick had a Cubs one, Bailey had a white heart with bling, and Heather had a keychain with special words on them. Thanks to Kathy Billingsley at Atlas Lock Inc. for getting the keys ready for us! We appreciate you!

After the ceremony, we thanked everyone for coming and we went inside with Bailey on a limited time because of her restrictions. We put on masks, and protective booties over our feet. We had all the doors shut in the house so we could present each room to each person. The tears, smiles, and words of appreciation could be heard in each part of the house!

On a warm day in July 2010, a crew came out to take down Bailey's pool she received from the Make-a-Wish Foundation. She only got to use the pool one time, before she broke her arm......
We had to take down the pool to make room for the house. So, I called a friend of mine, Mike Mize, who used to work in the pool business. He called a couple friends, and when everyone arrived, we had plenty of hands!

A big thanks to Mike and his son Alex, for coming out, along with Chandler, Bruce, Derrick, Dwayne Chandler, Joel Fletcher, and Randy Kircher for being a part of our Team!!!
Of course, as many visits before, we found a frog while the fellas were working!

Now that the house is done, Spring will bring work to the outside of the house. And this summer will bring putting the pool back up! So, until that time, I thought it would be nice for Bailey to have a sign to look at to know that her pool will be back soon! Sara Foreman and her talents created this great sign that we put in a bucket filled with sand outside her sliding kitchen door. Sara even had a great idea to put a removeable 'coming soon' sign on there, so she can use it after the pool is up! Thanks Sara for donating your time and beautiful talents!!

Welcome to Bailey's new room! This was such a fun room to put together! Bailey chose the colors for her room and picked our her bedding, but that's all she knew about it! Sara Foreman made this beautiful sign we hung on her door-thanks Sara!!!

After the room was painted by Shelley Greenwood and her special friends, we had Sheryl Polley come and write the words on the wall-this is what Gabbie and Bailey always said to each other......

Then we hung a picture the girls had taken together before Bailey left, under the words.

Then it was time to get trim, and other things done! Thankfully we have some great people on our team!!! Rob Perkins, John Milligan, Jon Plain, Josh Milligan, Dave Schrock, Bill Tuttle, Kevin Johnson and his neighbor came out a few times to get all the trimming, and closet door hanging done! We appreciate you all soooooo much!!!!!!!

The day the girls and teachers came to paint Bailey's room (see older post for this), they did a special project.....they each created a canvas to hang in Bailey's room. They could draw a picture, write an inspirational word, or do whatever they decide. Aunt Jessica hung them beautifully over her closet so she can see them each day!

We bought a closet system for Bailey's closet since there probably wouldn't be room for a chest of drawers. My sister, Angie, and Connie helped put it together and it looked great! Thanks to Jan Nickell and her family for providing the cute green bins!

We were very blessed that Dr. Bret Jerger and his family donated the bed and 2 cute blue chairs for Bailey's room. They belonged to his daughter and she was remodeling her room and thought they would be great for Bailey-and they were right!!!
There were a few pieces to put together......but no problem for our crew! Grandpa Bruce modeling her new bed-very cool!!! Thanks to the Nichols, Beavers, McCoy, and the Maley family for donating items for the bedroom and bathroom! We appreciate you all so much!!!!

We put the cute blue chairs in and added a few extras...adorable for sure!!!

The blinds throughout the house were donated and installed by Phil Tapscott and his son. They just brighten each room and are very sturdy. But, the most important thing is they are easy to clean and seem to not attract dust! Yeah!!! Thank you so much for being part of our Team!

Now to the bathroom that Chandler will share with Bailey.......

John Milligan came up with a design called a 'skirt' for the bathroom. If Bailey needs to be in her scooter, she will be able to easily move around and close up to the sink without a problem. A crew from S. A. Lewis built it and came out and installed it for us. Thank you so much!!!

Then our great plumbing group came in to finish up! Aunt Jessica added the final touches, Phil and his son put up the blinds, and Jon and John hung the nice mirror from Poland Glass! What a team!!!

After our front porch was poured and ready, we needed a little personality! Brush Enterprises came and put an adorable white rail on-thanks soooo much!!!!

Then Connie's husband, Mitch and his brother, put up the numbers for the house.

A great volunteer worker, Dave Schrock, came and put up shudders, and finished outside trim for us! We sure appreciated him!!!!

I just had to take this picture the night after all of our unpacking boxes from everything we purchased for the home....beds, coffee maker, etc. We threw them all outside, then our special friend Tammy Marshall came and got everything for us! We apprecite you and your family soooo much Tammy!!!!

Then it was time to give Bailey's garage some shelving for storage. On one trip, family members brought this pile of items and we knew we needed shelves! So, Bailey's Aunt Jessica and Uncle Cody got busy putting up the shelving units.

And now, everything has a shelf until it's time to unpack the box!

Kitchen

The kitchen was a project done by many people and businesses; the cabinets were built and installed by Galka with wood we provided for them, the countertops were donated and installed by Tony Romano and his builders, the sink and disposal were donated and installed by UA/MCAA local plumbers #65 and local contractors - Burdick Plumbing and Heating, King Lar, and Nogle & Black, the beautiful floor was donated and laid by Floor Source Direct.

Our plumbers worked hard installing everything and even helped us get the dishwasher and stove in! We appreciate you!!!

Solid Rock Chapel in Sullivan, raised money this last fall and with their funds we purchased the fridge, stove, and dishwasher! Wow, thanks for all your hard work!!!!
The microwave was purchased by Boiling Springs church of God! Thank you so much!!! All of our lighting was donated by Dunker Electric and installed by Giberson Electric.....THANKS SO MUCH!!!

The beautiful kitchen table was donated by a business in Arthur-thank you!!! It has 6 chairs and also has a leaf to make it bigger! Crystal, from the Mt. Zion Region News, helped put fuzzies on the bottom of the chairs-we appreciate you!!!

This is my part of the kitchen. The family picture wall.............just perfect! Thank you to Michelle McCoy who took most of the pictures and framed them for us. Aunt Jessica and Uncle Cody had fun putting them up!

Getting the family room ready took some help.....Angie and Connie worked together on an entertainment center to house their tv, etc. There were quite a few pieces, but after we put a few things together in the house, we got the hang of it!

The couch and loveseat with pillows, were donated by Pinkston's-love the color! Thanks for being a part of Team Bailey!!!

In this picture, you can see the entertainment center Connie and Angie got put together along with the rest of the room setup! Very cozy for sure!!! Kendra Gilman also donated a wicker basket cube shaped ottoman that opens to put things in, but unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of it......but, we are very thankful for your donation Kendra!!!

Kevin Buckley, was a great helper putting up the curtains and rods! Thanks!! Also in front of the doors are a sticky mats that have 30 layers in each packet. You put it in front of a busy place, when people come in, they put their shoes on it and it pulls yuck off their shoes to make them more clean! When the layer gets dirty, you just pull it off and another is right under it! Tom Klebe's company VWR Internationl, LLC, donated these! How perfect is it for Bailey's house?!? Thank you Tom, we appreciate you!!!

In the entryway, is a table with pictures of Team Bailey events along with a couple baskets to throw whatever in!

To complete the room, this beautiful and perfect saying from Uppercase Living, was put on the wall above the entertainment center with a basket.

The laundry room and pantry

When you walk in from the garage, the pantry is on the left side across from the laundry room.
It has a trap door on the floor to enter their HUGE crawl space! You can see how deep it is just from how the guy is standing in it.

John Milligan in the gray sweater, built the nice trap door and Floor Source Direct donated and laid the linoleum floor-Thank you!!!

We added lots of shelving, then filled the shelves with food and cleaning products!

Across from the pantry, is the laundry room. William Hughes, who donated all of the windows, from P.G. T. Industries, also wanted to buy the washer and dryer for the family! And boy, did he ever! When Heather walked in the room she was so overjoyed!! She's showing her love for them in the above picture!

When Bailey and her family came in the house, we had all the doors shut. The laundry was the last room to be seen because we also hid a beautiful new scooter for Bailey inside the room! Heckman Health Care donated this brand new scooter to help Bailey get around when she needs to! I had fun decorating her basket-I couldn't resist the frogs!

Heather and Derrick's room

Heather and Derrick's room is very nice. Heather dreamt of having a sleigh bed, and her dream came true! Her mom and dad had 'fun' putting it together!

Chandler's Room

Chandler's room was a fun room to do! He had told us he wanted a Cardinals room, so we painted one wall red and the rest a beige color. (Actually, in an older post, you can see Chandler, and his friend, Seth, painting one of the walls!)

Chandler chose this fouton bunkbed from Wal-Mart, and the great firemen of Sullivan paid for it! Thanks SOOOOO much!!!!

We couldn't BELIEVE how many pieces it took to make this bed! Yikes!! Chandler's grandpa, Bruce, and Uncle Cody were busy for 2 days putting it together!!

It was really cool when it was put together!

Sheryl Polley volunteered her time and talents to paint a Cardinals design on one of the walls. It looks so awesome! Thanks Sheryl!!

When the room was complete, it was totally cool! The nice blinds were donated and installed quickly and easily by Phil Tapscott-thanks so much!!! We even picked up baseball knobs for his closet! All of the other things in his room.....closet shelving, bedding, tv, etc. were purchased through our great Team Bailey donations! (Some of the bedding was donated by Bailey's friend, Kylie Nichols', family and the McCoy family) Thank you all!!!

Today is February 26, 2011, and Bailey is coming home today!!!! It has been a long journey for Bailey that began in May of 2010. She has been through more than anyone would have imagined, and fought each fight with courage and strength!

The doctors have released her to come home and we want to welcome her in the BIGGEST way possible! We are asking everyone to stand along route 121 at 2:00 this afternoon. Make signs if you would like -anything to cheer her on as she makes her way to her new home! She will drive by sometime between 2 and 3-you'll know it's her when she goes by-that's all I can say!!!

If you would rather come down to the house, that is fine-we are going to have a little ceremony before she goes in......she will be on strict rules, so know that a visit cannot happen at this time-hopefully sometime in the future!

Thanks to all who have made this day happen......God is good and we thank Him for directing us to all the people and places Team Bailey needed to go to make this dream a reality!

Peerless Cleaners helped us get Bailey's house all ready. One day their crew came out and cleaned the air ducts for us. On another day the cleaning and restoration crew came in and wiped down the walls, cabinets, floors, and cleaned so the house would be ready for Bailey!

Grant and Reese Edwards have big and thoughtful hearts! When the snow hit a few weeks ago, they got busy and started shoveling driveways. Guess where the money they earned went? Team Bailey!!

Bailey will NOT be coming home as planned on Saturday, Jan. 29th. She was admitted last night with a fever and through tests, discovered she has the start of pneumonia. Please keep the family in your prayers-especially Bailey. I will keep you posted on the day she will be returning.

Today was the day that showed we are almost done with Bailey's home.....the dumpster was taken away!!!! Thanks so much to Veolia Environmental Services for donating this big dumpster for us since we started our project last summer! We appreciate it so much and are glad we are done!!!!

Bailey gets to come home on January 29th for a visit before heading back for another bone marrow transplant in March. So, our team is working hard day and night to get everything ready for Bailey and her family! Can't post too many more pictures at this point-we want the rest to be a surprise for her! After she sees it all for the first time, I will post the rest for all to see!

Please continue to keep her and her family in your prayers! And thanks to all who have made this home possible for their family! We are so thankful for you!!! What an amazing blessing this project has been to all who have been part of it!

Here are a couple of special girls who have a heart for Team Bailey! Megan Vaughn and Kelsey McAtee are MTZ girls, who just celebrated their 13th birthdays with a big celebration party. But, all who were invited were asked not to bring a present, but a donation for Team Bailey instead! The pictures show their special donation box and a picture in the middle of their invitation.

After the party, they discovered they had raised $1,000.00! How amazing and wonderful! They came down with their moms and sister and brother and presented us with their donations.

We were so proud of them, we had invited the MTZ paper, Decatur paper, and WAND to come and cover their special story! Thanks girls for your big hearts!!! (the story will be on WAND Sunday night at 10pm, then Monday at 6am-so set your DVR!)

The fall of 2010 brought a great blessing from Thrivent Financial Aid for Lutherans.

After applying for a grant, and showing we had raised $5,000.oo through our own fundraising and logged many hours on our project, they matched our amount with another $5,000.00! Thanks to Steve Wright for letting us know about this neat thing that Thrivent does for others! We appreciate it sooo much! Thanks for being a part of Team Bailey!

The check was presented to Connie and I at my church, St. Paul's Lutheran during the service. Many people from St. Paul's have helped on this project in some way...financially and/or physically! So thankful for our great church family!

On October 22, 2010, The Swingsations and Les Femmes performed at a chili supper and auction at the MTZ high school. The proceeds from the auction went towards Team Bailey!

On Thursday, December 16th, Gabbie and I went to visit Bailey and her mom at the hospital. We had a wagon load of goodies for her....snacks to eat at the hospital, presents from Gabbie, and presents from the Mt. Zion Presbyterian church.

We had such a good visit! It was great for the girls to be together! While we were there, one of her nurses came in and sprinkled letters from the mail on her tummy as she lay in her bed. She was so thrilled to get mail! If you would like to brighten her day with a note, please send it to:

This week, the kitchen cabinets arrived! Galka cabinets have been busy creating the perfect kitchen for Bailey and her family.

This is all the cabinets in the garage.

Dan Janvrin was busy installing the cabinets along with a friend of his, Adam Creason. Adam had a special heart for our project because his daughter had to have a bone marrow transplant when she was 2 years old. She is now 9 years old and doing great! Good news to hear!

A few doors still need to be installed, but the cabinets look beautiful. Thank you Galka cabinets for donating your time to build these wonderful cabinets and being a part of Team Bailey!

The front door is all installed and painted. It looks beautiful! Thanks to Kevin Smith of S & S Auto for spraying all the exterior doors for us! We had a work day on Saturday, December 12th. Jon Plain and Dave Schrock came and worked on trimming the house.

Dave had a little help from a friend who stopped by named Hunter.

On December 11th, the Scentsy team of Trisha and Casey Hale presented Team Bailey with a very large check! The Mt. Zion Schools held a fundraiser for Team Bailey and sold over $30,000.00 worth of Scentsy products! So proud of all the students who worked so hard selling for Team Bailey! Thank you to Trisha and Casey for heading this up and thanks to all who sold and bought the product to help Team Bailey!!!

We were down at the house working this weekend and I took pictures of the girls' names I could see on the walls. These were from the day that some of Bailey's friends, teachers, and classmates came to paint her room. The ones that came wrote their names on the wall-a chair rail will be going up over the names, but they will always be there!

It was a busy day at the house Thursday, Dec. 2nd! Rebath came in and worked on the tub and shower in the bathrooms. They are looking great! Greg, from Rebath was doing a wonderful job getting things measured, cut, and into place! Thank you Rebath for being a part of Team Bailey!!

We were also busy in the garage painting all the trim for the house. Thanks to my buddies, Sue Holmes, Moira Atkinson, and Angie Mason for coming out to help on this big project!

We filled the kitchen and family room area with all the trim to let it dry.

We also needed 22 tons of rock for the driveway that is being poured tomorrow. Blackland Transport came to our rescue! They delivered and donated all the material for us! Wow! Thanks so much for being a part of Team Bailey!!!!

We had a very special day at the Team Bailey house on Thursday, Nov. 12th. The MTZ kids all had the day off, so I invited all the girls from Bailey's class last year, and her classmates this year, along with some of her teachers, to come and help paint her room! My painter, Shelley, sectioned off a section for each girl to paint and they wrote their name right above their section-even though it will be covered with a chair rail, their names will always be under there.

Painting on the inside began this week! Hard to believe, the time has arrived! Shelley Greenwood has volunteered her time to paint the whole house and has done a wonderful job! (If you need your house painted, call her-very beautiful work!!) This shows the kitchen area with the background entrance into the laundry room. LOVE the color!!

Shelley's job was made easier by Brandon Johnson and his crew of the International Brotherhood of 08-41 Painter's and Allied Trades #288. They sprayed the primer on all the walls, textured and painted the ceiling for us! So thankful for their group! And a BIG thanks also to the Sherwin Williams Stores in Effingham and Decatur #3195 for supplying all the primer, paint, and painting supplies! What a blessing all of these groups are to Team Bailey!!!

Jeff Harris, from Keeping it Green, is helping us with our drainage for our gutters. He came out and hooked up pipes for now, but will bury them later. On Saturday, Nov. 6th our Team was busy! John Milligan, Josh Milligan, Rob Perkins, and Dave Schrock worked on the siding and soffit on the front of the house. It was a chilly morning, but the shining sun warmed us up!

Solid Rock Chapel in Sullivan have been wonderful to us! They just love to feed our hungry crews on Saturdays! We had yummy bar-b-ques and delicious homemade cookies from Goldie's Frontporch! Thank you for being a part of Team Bailey!!! Now that the house is enclosed and the heat is on, we were able to come in and eat and warm up a little!

After lunch, our team worked on the siding on the front of the garage and the soffit on the front porch! It looks awesome!

A big thanks to our workers, Solid Rock Chapel for delicious food, Wausau and Sims Lumber. We appreciate you all!!!

Our drywall finishing crew have been so busy! The International Brotherhood of 08-41 Painters and Allied Trades #288 took on this job for us! Brandon Johnson, Curt Johnson, and Bill Francisco did a wonderful job! Not only did they finish the drywall, they textured and painted our ceiling, and sprayed the primer throughout the house for us and saved us lots of time! Not only did they donate their time and materials, they also raised a monetary dontation for Team Bailey as well! You guys are awesom!

My friend Julie Butler and I got a little dusty and swept up all the drywall after they sanded it down! Those walls are nice and smooth and ready to go!

This time last year, Bailey was in 3rd grade and celebrating Halloween with her class in Mrs. Swartz's room! They carved pumpkins and had a great time!

Bailey was partners with Gabbie and a red-headed Grace! They thought of what they wanted on their pumpkin and I got busy cutting it out after they gutted it!

Even Mrs. Swartz, got messy!

The final creation was a jack-o-latern that said 'MTZ rocks!'

Saturday, October 30th was a breezy and chilly morning for our Scaredy Cat race! Around 100 people signed up ahead of time for the race, and quite a few more came out that morning! We had all the shirts ready at the registration desk. Since Halloween was the next day, Connie and I dressed like construction workers (since that is what we are right now!) And other runners had fun dressing too!

We LOVE Wal-Mart! Wal-Mart has been a big supporter of Team Bailey. We have worked with Jason Farmer at the Decatur store. They provided us with oranges, apples, bananas, bagels, cream cheese, and granola bars for the runners after the race! The Moultrie County American Cancer Society gave us lots of water too! Thanks to these businesses for your support!!!

Clifford the Big Red Dog, also known as Becky Anderson, got everyone ready and lined up for the start. The 5k runners were lined up to run south of the Intermediate and the 1 mile fun runners were headed in the opposite direction towards the downtown.

After Becky said a few words, she led everyone in a prayer, blessing and thanking the runners for coming out and sending a prayer up for Bailey for continued healing and strength! Then the race began! This is the 1 milers heading out!

The first one to cross the finish line for the 1 mile fun run, was 6th grader, Evan Mason!

Everyone who participated in the 1 mile received a cool medal! And everyone who signed up early, got a neat orange Scaredy Cat shirt to remember this day by! A fun surprise, was Unique Boutique dropped off lots of chocolate frog suckers for the kids with a coupon attached to each one for $5.00 off any service at their salon! Thanks Unique Boutique for your continued support!

These 2 fellas, Andy Hinch and Peter Donaldson ran the last part of the run hand in hand-and crossed together-what a team they made!

Many of our teachers and faculty of Mt. Zion came out to run! Way to go!!! This fundraiser was so fun! It wouldn't have run smoothly without many individuals and business....thank you to Becky Anderson and Kelly Fox for getting the course all set up and ready for the race, Becky's business Physician's Choice Wellness for purchasing the t-shirts, Wal-Mart and Moultrie County Cancer Society for food and water, all the volunteers who came out in the cold to help, Mt. Zion Region News for covering our event, and to our special runners-big and little, who came out in the chilly temperatures to support Bailey-what a great day!

Mt. Zion Intermediate had a fundraiser for Team Bailey this last month. Headed up by Bailey's 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Courson, they sold green Team Bailey bracelets...and they were so popular, they sold out!!

Bailey's present and past teachers, classsmates, and all the MTZ schools, are thinking of her and finding ways to help out on this special project!!

Last week, we got all the supplies for painting....paint, brushes, rollers, etc. the Sherwin Williams store in Effingham and the Decatur store across from St. Teresa, provided all these materials to get the house colorful! We are so thankful to them for being a part of Team Bailey!

The tree in back of Bailey's house is just glorious! It has changed from green, to yellows, reds, and oranges. Behind this tree, was another one we needed taken down, and thanks to Mechling Backhoe Services Inc., we got it down! Thank you so much!!! And, thanks to a good friend, Paul Butler, we got it all out of there!

Followers of Team Bailey.....I am having technical difficulties with my camera...well actually, I had to send my camera off to get fixed and I'm borrowing my dad's-don't have the right cords to download pictures yet! So, I apologize I haven't posted lately....hopefully next week I will have it figured out!

But, a lot has been happening down at the house.....the drywallers are finishing up this week and will be texturing the ceiling and spraying the primer throughout the house for us. All of the paint was delivered for the house! The heat and air conditioning are all installed and in the process of getting power to the house instead of using the temporary pole. We had a big tree in the back cut down and it will be cut up and removed this week/weekend along with another one we cut down in the front. The garage door will go in this next week and hopefully painting will begin!

We had a very successful Chili Supper/Silent Auction sponsored by Les Femme and the Swingsations. We were presented with a great donation checks from a few different places...... Thrivent Financial and Unique Boutique's Salon-a-thon day, and from the Mt. Zion Intermediate's selling of Team Bailey bracelets!

So, as soon as I get the camera figured out, I will post pictures to go with all these wonderful things! Thanks for being patient and for following our story!

Drywall and front door

The drywallers worked more on the walls today and are pretty close to being done! This picture shows a little of one of the bathrooms. Dreamer's Diner filled our workers tummies at lunch today! They enjoyed chicken and noodles, a pork chop, augratin potatoes, and pie! YUM!!! They have fed our hungry crews 2 different times! Yummy food and thoughtful people! Thanks Dreamer's Diner!!! We are also thankful to our drywallers donating their time and talents on making the walls look great!!!!

Tonight, Kevin Johnson and a good friend of his named John, came down and put the front door in! Night comes very fast now in the evenings, so they tried to work quickly. Thankfully we have electricity, so spotlights were perfect for the last parts of the installation! Thanks so much to Kevin and John for their time, knowledge, and handiwork!!

While they were installing the front door, the kids enjoyed their dinner on the front porch! It was a great night!!

Today was a busy day at the house inside and out! Outside, workers were digging a huge hole and getting it ready for a new septic tank to be put in!

As soon as the hole was ready, the septic tank arrived and was carefully lowered in! First the lower part went down and they lined it up just right in the huge hole.

Then the top part was lowered down and sealed on it.

Once it was in, they started covering it up and got ready to work on the laterals.

Inside the house, the drywall hangers were busy. All four workers were busy measuring, lifting, and screwing in the drywall. They started first on the ceilings.

Sullivan's Octoberfest

Saturday, Oct. 16th was Sullivan's Octoberfest on the square. The Solid Rock Chapel had a walking taco stand and their proceeds went to Team Bailey. Their church has come to feed our hard workers at the house a few times.

One of the gals made these adorable and yummy cupcakes to sell! The walking taco was delicious too!

My partner, Connie, had her little pooch, Sophie, all dressed up for Team Bailey! Even her little stroller had frogs on it! It was a great day! Thanks to the Solid Rock Chapel for their continued support of Team Bailey! We appreciate you!!!! With the funds they raised, we were able to purchase a refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher for the house!! Yea!!!!

What a beautiful day it was on Saturday, Oct. 9th! The sun was shinning and the air was cool and crisp.....and green was being seen everywhere!

We had a great crew finishing up the back and two sides of the house on Saturday! A BIG thanks to our hard workers....Jon Plain, Craig Plain, Pete Williams, Bill Tuttle, Larry Butler, Mike Doty, Tom Greenwood, Kevin Johnson, and Carl Vaughn. We appreciate you so much!!!

At lunchtime, our crew was fed by Solid Rock Chapel in Sullivan! Yum! Pulled pork sandwiches and homemade pumpkin cookies! Thank you ladies for a great lunch!!

Then it was back to work getting the front of the house ready for siding-we have to order some to finish up. They wrapped the front with Tyvek and got the flashing done around the windows. Earlier in the week Teqfoam was sprayed around each window to insulate and protect it. This house will be air tight!!!

Since the back was finished, we started powerwashing all the dirt off of the siding!

We appreciate Todd Farden, of Parksite Distribution, for donating the flashing tape, and Brian Woods for the Teqfoam.

My next entry should be about the drywall! It has been delivered and placed in each room!!! Yahooooooo!

Monday, Oct., 4th we worked more on the siding. Thankfully we had lots of hands to help us! One big crew worked on cleaning the last part of the pile of siding before it could go on. They started out with buckets of soapy water and sponges and then Kevin Johnson brought his power washer-that made the job quicker and didn't freeze their hands-because it was a little chilly!

Another group worked on one side of the house while another group started the opposite side!

John and Greg got the side garage door installed too!

When the sunlight was gone everyone came inside and enjoyed a delicious hot meal donated by Dreamer's Diner! Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, and pineapple upside down cake-yummy! Thank you Dreamer's Diner!!!!

Scaredy Cat Run/Walk for Team Bailey

Concrete in the garage and front porch

On Saturday, Sept. 25th a crew came out to put in the sliding doors in the back, and fill the front porch area with sand to get it ready for concrete. they also worked on the soffit to get the house ready for siding! Thanks to all our workers....John Milligan, Mike Doty, Kevin Johnson, and Bill Tuttle. Also thanks to Vulcan for supplying the sand we needed, to PGT Industries for the beautiful sliding door, and to the Solid Rock Chapel Church in Sullivan for feeding our hungry crew!!! We appreciate you all!It was a cold and rainy morning, Sat., Oct. 2nd. We had planned to get the siding started, but the rain changed our plans. But, the concrete still got poured for the garage and the front porch! Hooray! The concrete crew didn't mind the rain at all, but the trucks started sinking a little so The Dora Township came to the rescue! They delivered (I think) close to 15 tons of milling so the concrete trucks could get in and out! Thanks to Bill, at Dora Township, for heading that up, donating it, and getting it done!

The garage floor is shiny and smooth and ready to dry! You can see the raindrops a little in this picture! Thank you to our anonymous donors of concrete! You are very appreciated! Thanks also to S.A. Lewis for donating the wire for the concrete flooring....we appreciate you!

Getting ready for siding

Thursday, Sept. 30th we had a great crew come to the house to get the siding all ready to put up. It had been setting out in the weather and got pretty yucky, so our crew washed it down and got it ready! Lots of excitement and screams happened when little critters would scramble out of crevices! Yikes!!

Donation from the Oddfellows

On September 13th, The Oddfellows Lodge, presented Team Bailey with a check for $2,000.00! The Oddfellows were busy putting on the mud volleyball tournament and dunk booth to raise these funds, and some extra was added through their lodge too! We have asked them to use this money to build a deck off the back of Bailey's home for us. Thanks to all the members who have a big heart for Bailey and our project for her home! We can't wait to see the deck!

On September 14th, our windows were delivered! Beautiful energy effecient windows donated by PGT Industries sold through Norandex! They keep the house 15 degrees warmer in the winter and are amazingly easy to clean and move around!

Our hard workers, John Milligan and Jon Plain were busy putting up the Tyvek.

Then it was time to get the windows in! Kevin Johnson, was our extra set of hands that we needed!

Kolby used the packing from around the windows as his shoulder pads! Who knew packing could be so fun?!?

Unique Boutique Salon-a-Thon

Saturday, Sept. 11th, was Unique Boutique's Team Bailey Salon-a-thon day! All the gals were donating a part of their services towards Team Bailey! Here's a great story...the stylist sitting down holding her foot, ran into another gal's shoe right before the day began and was pretty sure she broke her little toe! On Friday, Sept. 10th Mt. Zion Intermediate, Mt. Zion Grade, and McGaughey all supported Bailey by wearing their Team Bailey shirts. Bailey's 10th birthday was Wednesday, but instead of it being a happy filled birthday, she had to have an immediate surgery for a blood clot on her spine. It was a different kind of a birthday for Bailey, but everything went as the doctors had hoped-she is such a little fighter!

My sister, Leslie was in town, and I put her to work cleaning up Bailey's house!

WAND tv even came out to video our hard workers-he even got on the roof with a camera! He's a brave reporter!

The whole roof only took a few hours to complete with this great crew, then it was lunch time!! Check out this feast donated by Goldie's Front Porch located in Sullivan! Yummy homemade food!!

Furnishing Bailey's home

We have registered Bailey and her family at Wal-Mart under the baby registry... the first name 'Team' and the last name 'Bailey'. We have registered for everything the family will need to get their new home up and going....sheets, pillows, shower curtains, garbage cans, cleaners, etc. If you would like to help furnish the home, that would be great! This might be a funny picture to post, but just to show how wonderful people are.....in the latest news article, we said we could use some water for our workers. A few days later, a friend of mine, Gene Mueller, called

and said he had 10 cases of water to donate from The Moultrie County American Cancer Society! Then later that day, someone put another case of water on my front step! Thank you secret water donor for being a part of Team Bailey and thanks to the Moultrie Country American Cancer Society! We appreciate you!

It was a busy rainy night at the house tonight! Our plumbing and electrical crews came in and got busy-the rain didn't stop them!

I love this picture-all the cars for all the people that were there-there are even cars you can't see in this picture!

After the workers worked for a while, we served them yummy Pizza Hut pizza-in Bailey's bedroom!

My boys passed the time playing their DS games in Bailey's closet-and Gabbie helped me get the food ready-and she tried to find ways to keep dry-too funny! Special thanks to Mt. Zion Pizza Hut for providing 12 pizzas to feed our hungry crew! On Saturday, August 29th, our crew finished up the roof and got it ready for next Saturdays' job of shingles!

The morning of August 29th was a cool and beautiful one! Early in the morning our troops for Team Bailey arrived!

Tim Dial, of TD Crane, came with the most helpful machine! It lifted walls, and truss after truss after truss, to make our worker's lives much easier!

John Milligan and Jon Plain had lots of help on this beautiful day from .....Craig Plain, Josh Milligan, Mitch Doty, Frank Conway, Dave Bailey, Jeff Denton, Jim German, Hal Whitacre, Jim Blunt, Richard Lowe, and John St. Clair. We appreciate our workers SO much!!!

After a busy morning, everyone took a break and walked over to the park in Dalton City and enjoyed a delicious lunch!

Thanks to our 'feeding crew'....Tammy Marshall grilled up the burgers, her sweet girl, Rhiannon got the lemonade ready, and Cindy McCoy and Betty Aubert helped serve it up! Special thanks to Moweaqua Packaging for supplying the hamburgers and St. Isadore church for the yummy sidedishes!

After our workers ate, it was back to work! I love this picture!!!

The afternoon was a busy one getting the rest of the trusses up! Thanks to Okaw Truss for the amazing trusses, Miller Builders Component for the fantastic premade walls, Hundman Lumber, TD Crane, Kenny's Ace Hardware, and all our volunteers for making this great day possible!

The afternoon of August 26th, our helpers came to put the interior walls up! The weather was just incredible and perfect to be out working on the house!

John Milligan and his crew worked until dark getting all the walls up! It was so neat to walk from room to room and see what the home was going to be like-much different than looking at it on paper!

Special thanks to Miller Builders Component for donating all our walls!!!They are awesome!! Vulcan Materials for sand, and S.A. Lewis for use of their large crane to move the walls! Ashlyn was a great helper helping me set up food for our crew! And the kids enjoyed playing in the sand that was in the garage area while the grown-ups were hard at work!

On Wednesday, August 25th, the walls started going up! It was a beautiful day to be outside and watch this cool sight! The walls came prebuilt from Miller Builders Component and delivered by C. J. Transport. They were put up by our outstanding crew of Jon Plain, John Milligan, Josh Milligan, and Greg Burgener!

While we were at the Pony Express Days on Saturday, John Milligan, Jon Plain and their crew worked hard to finish up the floor for Bailey's home! We went down to see it all done on Sunday.....how exciting! Gabbie and her brothers walked all around to check it out! Next comes the walls and trusses!!

Pony Express Days

On Saturday, August 21st, Pony Express Days was going on. The Oddfellows group, lead by Kerry Toothman, held a dunking booth and mud volleyball tournaments all in honor of Team Bailey! They had many celebrities in the dunk tank-even State Representative Bob Flider!

The teams that signed up got t-shirts, and a chance to win this special frog decorated trophy!

I think Bailey's favorite team would have been her brother's team, named Team Bailey! They were working hard and very very very muddy! Their muddy teammates were....Chandler Huddleston, Cody Buckley, Kevin Buckley, Jared Myers, Michael Warner, Kyle Davis, Mark Lillpop, Greg Lamb, and Bruce Huddleston. The winning team was, Team Dirty Pants...Tara Mata, Fidel Mata, Bonnie Ford, Tyler Ford, Jerry Krell, Chonita Ziegler, Lisa Prattt, and Bekki Cheatham..

Mrs. Ditty and Mrs. Driscoll from McGaughey even got muddy on a team! Nick Toothman and Kyle Gorrell had a good time too! Thank you to The Oddfellows group for putting this even on and all the participants in mud volleyball, dunk tank celebrities, and all who came out to enjoy the day and cheer their teams on!

Spreading Gravel and Sand

On Thursday evening, August 19, we had a crew out to spread gravel in the foundation, and help fill the old septic with sand.

Jon Plain and John Milligan headed up our crew and helped us get the job done! Special thanks to our workers who came out to help...Trevor Horton, Andy & Corey Cooling (A-W Service Unlimited), Duane & Deanna Chandler, Chandler's buddy Seth, Tyler Revis, and Bailey's family..Chandler, Derrick, Aunt Jessica, & Uncle Cody.

Thank you to....Vulcan Material Co. for donating all the sand and rock, J.J. Friis Trucking for transporting it, and a yummy thanks to Steak-n-Shake for feeding double cheeseburgers and cole slaw to our crew and to Wal-Mart for watermelon, cantalope, and water!

Fun side note.....One of our special volunteers, Duane Chandler, gets the special volunteer award (if there is one)! His lovely wife drove him to the site because he had just got his eyes dialated! Now, he couldn't drive, but he was ready to do some scoopin'! You rock Duane!

August 6th, the foundation walls were poured! Midwest Concrete's crew of guys were working hard and fast to get everything spread smoothly and perfectly. Grohne Concrete had 2 trucks out there. When we arrived one truck was at one end of the house with 2-3 guys spreading the concrete and the other truck was at the other end of the house doing the same thing! What an awesome sight to see! Thanks to Midwest Concrete, Gerdau Ameristeel, and Grohne Concrete for being a part of Team Bailey!

Team Bailey Garden Party

On July 17th we had a Team Bailey Garden Party at the Long Creek Vineyards. It was a super hot day, but a great one! Lots of people came out to support Bailey! Her family got the best table-right in front of a fan! Team Bailey coordinator, Connie Doty decorated her table with beautiful flowers from her garden and of course, a cute frog!
We had many things throughout the day....silent auction, 50/50 raffle, food by Pastabilities, delicious wine, great music from Timpanic Blues, and a chocolate fountain! Mrs. Buckley and Mrs. Driscoll loved digging in with strawberries! Yum!
When the day was done, Gabbie, Bailey's buddy, helped her mom count up all the earnings from our big day! Thanks to all who came out and supported Team Bailey!!!

The trailer was moved out in June! What an exciting day! It didn't take long to get it hooked up and pulled out! While the workers were busy getting everything ready, the kids found....frogs!!! It must be a 'good luck' sign!

On June 11th, we had a ground breaking ceremony. After many words of thanks to everyone, blessings by 3 pastors, Bailey's brother, Chandler, along with the rest of his family, cut the ribbon and the digging began!

Building a home for Bailey Poker Run

On June 12th we had a Poker Run! It began in Warrensburg at DaBurg Bar and Grill, then traveled to Timbuktu, The Green Shamrock, Whits Inn, Pop's Place, and finished at Lock Stock and Barrel! It was a very hot day, but most everyone got 'cooled' off by the big downpour on the last part of the run! Still, a good time was had by all!

A special thanks to all the bikers who came out to support Team Bailey...you all rock! Also thanks to all who helped with silent auction items, Timbuktu and Lock Stock for lunch and dinner, all the above bars for participating in this event, and to The Oohs for a great night of music!
